A woman by the name of Tiffany Lynn Klein is facing second-degree felony charges after she was caught taking $80 worth of Christmas cards without paying for them. She was arrested by Ogden police and booked in the Weber County Jail on Thursday.

Klein is in the process of hiring an Ogden Theft Defense Lawyer Attorney. The Weber County Attorney’s Office filed in 2nd District Court one count of theft, a second-degree felony; one count of possession of methamphetamine, a third-degree felony; one count of false information to a police officer, a class C misdemeanor; and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, a class B misdemeanor.

Klein had paid for some items, but then left the store with 21 Christmas cards, worth about $80, inside her purse without paying for them, Lt. Cragun said. Store security followed her out into the parking lot and confronted her, then called police. When police questioned Klein, she provided them with a false name.

When they searched her, they found meth and prescription drugs inside her purse, along with a loaded automatic handgun.

“Because she had prior retail thefts and because of the handgun, it enhanced the shoplifting to a felony,” Cragun said.
